The Income Tax Department in India has put forward an announcement. A maximum of 74.67 crore people in India have PAN cards. Out of these, 60.50 crore people have linked their Aadhaar number with their PAN card. It has been revealed that the remaining 14.17 crore people have not linked their Aadhaar number with their PAN card.
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has announced that Aadhaar number will be mandatory for new PAN card / e aadhar card download applicants from July 1.
As of June 2025, applicants will be eligible to get a new PAN card if they have a birth certificate, name, or other identity proof.
The central government has announced that Aadhaar number verification will be included in PAN card applications from July next month on the Income Tax Department website.
PAN-Aadhaar linking is mandatory :
The Income Tax Department says that tax evasion is taking place through PAN cards: The Income Tax Department has found that tax evasion is taking place through multiple pan card apply for one person, and PAN cards in different names, and has made it mandatory to link Aadhaar number with PAN card.
PAN card valid from next year :
In practice, those who have a PAN card are advised to link it with their Aadhaar number by the end of this year. If they do not link it, the pan card application will be valid from next year.
