Head : CBSE has officially announced that from the coming year 2026, the Class 10th public examination will be conducted twice a year, and students must attend and write the first phase of the public examination without fail.

CBSE Management : There are a large number of schools operating under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) across the country, so the CBSE has agreed to conduct the Class 10th public examination in two installments in the coming years.

After seeking the consent and feedback of the parents of the students to conduct the 2026 Class 10th public examination in two installments, they also agreed. It is noteworthy that the announcement for this was made in February.

CBSE Examination Control Commissioner Sanyam Bhardwaj said : 

Students are facing a lot of stress due to the Class 10th public examination. Considering this, it is said that in order to reduce the stress related to the examination, the Commissioner of National Education Policy, Sanyam Bhardwaj, has sent a recommendation to the Central Government to conduct the examination in two installments from 2026.

This has been prepared as a draft report and published on the CBSE website. Through this announcement, we have sought feedback from students and parents and have given approval to conduct it in two installments a year, the report said.

10th grade public examination in two installments?

1. First Phase 10th Grade Public Examination It will be held in February.
2. Second phase of 10th standard public examination It will be held in May


It is mandatory for students to participate in the first phase of the public examination. It is the students' choice to participate in the second phase of the public examination.

Internal marks : 

CBSE has announced that the marks obtained by students in the internal assessment exams, which are normally conducted once a year, will be used as a substitute for their certificates.
